I really had with today’s color challenge. I pulled all the colors and then started pulling stamp sets that I could visualize all the colors in. I love to wear black, white and gray so surely I could create something fun with these colors.
Whatever, stamp set and layering combo I was going to use I knew that I was going to use the yellow to accent and pop the card.
I decided to feature this fabulous “New” Stampin’ Up! Strength & Hope Stamp set. *Stampin’ Up! is donating $2 from this purchase to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® . To make this card I used a fun technique that I use so often. I don’t know the exact name but I do know its like Gradation. First, I colored my butterfly with daffodil delight. I then used a black stampin write marker to color the edges. I used a Stampin Up! sponge to blend the black into the yellow. I quickly stamped it on a scrap piece of paper and then cut it out. I knew I wanted my butterfly to appear to be fluttering. If you look closely at the small square the butterfly is on you’ll see I stamp the butterfly in Basic Gray first. I then off set (ever so slightly) my Daffodil Delight Butterfly over the Basic Gray one. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it. The gray butterfly on the bottom gives you the feeling that the butterfly is in flight. Oh… how I LOVE IT!!!
The rest of the card is super easy. I used Basic Black for my base. I then cut a layer of Whisper White Card Stock. I free hand tore the edge but remember you can always use a tearing edge for more accurate tearing. I also cut a piece of Basic Gray and free hand tore it to layer on the Whisper White.
The words that layer across the card are from the “New” Strength & Hope Stamp Set. I used Basic Gray to stamp them. The ribbon is fabulous and adds a bit of richness to this beauty. Its the 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon in Basic Black with a Silver edge. Perfect!
I added a couple of silver brads to finish the look. Well, there you have it… today’s Color Challenge was a success. I hope you enjoyed it and give it a try!
