Double embossing is a technique where you use both heat & dry embossing. This tutorial teaches you the technique in easy steps. You’ll make your beautiful handmade card in no time!
You only need a few supplies for this fun technique:
- An Embossing Folder
- Versamark Ink
- Clear Embossing Powder
- Heat Tool
- Cut and Emboss Machine
- Stamp Set (for additional image or sentiment)
1. Cut a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Basic Black cardstock. Then, score at 4-1/4″. This is your card base.
2. Cut a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White cardstock. Center and adhere this piece to the front of the card.
3. Cut a 5″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Polished Pink cardstock. This piece will be double embossed.
4. Use the large heart die to cut out the heart from the Polished Pink layer.
Tip: It’s important to die cut the heart before double embossing.
5. After die cutting heart, ink up the Polished Pink cardstock with VersaMark Ink Pad. Then, cover in Clear Embossing Powder.
6. Heat set to melt the clear embossing powder. Let the embossed layer cool and dry.
7. Then, dry emboss the layer using embossing folder.
8. Center and adhere the embossed layer to the front of the card.
9. Die cut large white heart with small white heart die cut from the middle. See photo.
10. Follow the directions above to die cut heart and double emboss it.
11. Add dimensionals behind the heart frame and adhere to the front of the card.
12. Add adhesive behind the small heart and place it inside of the heart frame.
13. Stamp the sentiment in Memento Black Ink.
14. Cut banner edges and adhere across heart.
15. Embellish with a Jewel Rhinestone.
16. Center and adhere the Basic White inside the card.
